College art teacher Taylor Holmes said it was a “remarkable achievement” and testament to Premaratne’s “dedication to the arts”.

“Her artwork reflects her artistic talent and embodies the values of self-expression, empathy and critical thinking that Mandurah Baptist College strives to instil in students,” Ms Holmes said.

“Through Hiruni’s artwork, viewers are invited to delve into the societal impacts of AI and its artistic repercussions. “Her creative expression serves as a window into the foreboding world of AI, offering insights into the hopes, fears and dreams of today’s youth.”

Ms Holmes said the school was proud to see the former student’s talent recognised.

The exhibition features 60 works by 2023 Year 12 visual arts graduates from 36 schools across WA and is on display until October 6.
