"Buying a home, raising a family or living the single life"

CANNING TIMES is delivered each Tuesday throughout the City of Canning and includes well established residential areas, newer housing estates and commercial/industrial areas. The area’s occupation profile favours professional, managerial/white collar.

While couple families with children are dominant, the proportion of singles residing in the area has grown since the 2001 census (a mix of younger singles, baby-boomers and seniors) and given the close proximity to Curtin and Murdoch universities there is a significant student and overseas born population (39% of residents were born overseas).

Separate houses remain in the majority, with homes being purchased replacing outright home ownership as the main tenure type. One third of residents moved into the area within the last 5 years and a growing proportion of homes are rented.
