$350m redevelopment of Westfield Carousel begins

THE Cannington Westfield Carousel $350 million redevelopment has begun.

Expected to be complete by the third quarter of 2018, the fully refurbished complex will house 70 specialty stores and a David Jones.

The David Jones department store will anchor a new fashion mall that will be home to an open-air leisure, lifestyle and entertainment precinct, and purpose built rooftop with a fully refurbished 14-screen Hoyts cinema complex and 12 restaurants providing international dining.

The project at Westfield Carousel will expand the centre from its current size of 82,000sq m to about 110,000sq m.

Westfield management Scentre Group chief executive Peter Allen said it was exciting for the south eastern corridor.

“This is an exciting time for our business in Western Australia. We’re making a significant investment in this market as we embark on redeveloping Westfield Carousel…Perth has long been underserved by quality regional centres and these projects – each in strategic locations across the city – will set a new standard of retail in this market,” he said.
