Canning’s Act Belong Commit Art Awards launches

CANNING’S premier annual arts event, Act Belong Commit Art Awards 2017, launched this month, attracting more than 148 entries.

Now in its 28th year, the City’s exhibition showcases a range of art types from paintings through to sculpture.

Mayor Paul Ng said the awards had become an important community event.

“In the digital age, the success of this exhibition demonstrates how important self-expression is to people,” he said.

“Art allows us to slow down for a minute, to step back and look at things differently.

“It allows us to share in a collective experience, to view the world through someone else’s eyes.”

The exhibition runs from July 22 to July 30.

It is open from 10am to 3pm daily at 1317 Albany Highway, in the Civic Administration Centre’s function room.
