Opinion: Colour the cash

An ATM that dispenses dyed money if it’s disturbed would solve the problem of theft.

NOTING the numerous ATMs that are damaged by thieves, one does not have to be a NASA boffin to see that these machines can be made thief-proof by simply installing an automatic dye system where if the ATM is threatened by any movement, nudge or pulling, the dye is splashed over the money, making it useless as currency.

The message would soon get around that it’s a waste of time and effort.
