Opinion: Roe 8 protestors need to let it go

E Higgins, RivertonCanning Gazette

I AM writing in regards to all the hype against the Roe 8 Highway.

Over the past six months or more we have had many letters in this paper from people who are objecting to this project going ahead.

These protesters seem to be getting plenty of media attention, as well as through the courts to try stop this highway going ahead.

They are also happy to damage property and tie themselves to big machinery (and then expect someone to come and free them from the hot sun).

This is nothing short of vandalism. Then they complain about the police presence.

When you cause damage, the police are entitled to be there.

Also, a lot of the general public want this highway to go through with all the congestion on our roads, especially Leach Highway.

The concern about all this is the wildlife, but I think the wildlife can live in harmony with this project.

As I understand it, there will be a bridge built over some of this area.

Wildlife is very resilient; just watch David Attenborough’s documentaries. So protesters, it’s time to move on.

This Roe 8 highway has to be built. So let’s get on with it.

Also, this means work and employment.

E. HIGGINS,

Riverton.
