Cougars colts pounce on Swan View

Swan View hosted the game after finishing as minor premiers.

In blustery conditions, the Cougars came out firing, taking a two-goal lead early, but Swan View kicked the next four goals to take a 4.3 to 2.1 lead at the first break. The Cougars used their run and carry game to regain the lead and take a 6.5 to 5.7 lead into the main break.

The Cougars put their foot on the pedal in the second half.

In the third quarter, the Cougars starved the Swan View forwards and really shut them down all over the ground.

Canning Vale showed they wanted the ball more and led 8.5 to 6.9 at the final change, setting up a thrilling final term.

The Cougars won the quarter and recorded an emphatic 28-point victory.

Cody Nelson led the way with five goals in a dominant display. He was well supported by Jason McGovern with two goals. Better players were Nelson, McGovern and Ryan Pears.

The colts have a bye next week and will chase back-to-back flags when they play in the grand final the following weekend.
