Demons take out grand final

Staff ReporterCanning Gazette

It was the Demons 10th consecutive grand final appearance and erased the pain of losing the title to West Coast Falcons last year.

The Demons led by five goals after the first quarter.

The team hustled and picked off plays to continue working the Lions over in the second quater, forcing turnovers. That resulted in a flood of goals for the Demons and they led by 16 goals at the main break, 32-16.

With Ashleigh Neal and Amber Oldland converting the copious amount of opportunities they were getting, the Demons were not letting the Lions back into the contest and at three quarter time they held a 20-goal lead, 49-29.

Neal was lethal in the circle. She missed just four shots for the game to finish with 42 goals at 91 per cent.

Lindal Rohde was one of the four-quarter workhorses for the Demons and was named most valuable player for the game.

It was an emotional win for the Demons, who paid tribute to club legend and Netball WA life member Sue Scott, by wearing pink shoelaces in honour of Scott’s cancer battle.
