Detours will be in place and motorists should take this into account when considering travel plans.

Brookfield Rail Regional Engineer Simon Topp said the company had timed closures to have the least impact on morning commuters and general traffic.

“Brookfield Rail and the City of Cockburn have discussed all other alternatives to closing the road, however as the maintenance requires a 14-hour window for completion of the work, a Saturday night to Sunday morning time slot was chosen to minimise disruption to traffic,” he said.

“Every effort will be made to ensure the work is carried out in an efficient manner.”

Wattleup Road between Deepdene Road and Moylan Road will require similar treatment.

A half road closure will be in place from May 3 between 6am and 6pm.

A full closure will be in place between 6am and 6pm on May 4.
