Cockburn: hockey players to hit the ice for Telethon

Jessica NicoCockburn Gazette

ICE hockey players will crash, bash and slide their way across Cockburn Ice Arena later this month, all in the name of Telethon.

The Hockeython Charity Weekend for Telethon will bring junior, senior, premier league and all-ability teams together for a weekend of back-to-back games as the local ice hockey community rallies behind Perth’s sick children.

Event co-ordinator Chris McRae said it was a way for players of all ages, levels and abilities to play hockey in a fun, competitive environment while raising money for a good cause.

“The reception from the hockey community was extremely positive and we had a huge number of expressions of interest from players and parents from all divisions,” he said.

“Telethon has always been a key charity and organisation throughout WA and the cause they work towards is very much worth supporting.

“The fact that we have so many young participants makes it even more worthwhile as they are helping to make a difference for youth and children in WA.”

All proceeds from the event will be donated directly to Telethon.

The Hockeython Charity Weekend for Telethon is on October 28 and 29 at the Cockburn Ice Arena.
