Baker turns up the heat on competition

Hundreds of pies were judged during the Fine Food exhibition where Four Seasons Patisserie’s won the Gourmet Apple Pie category.

Baker Andy Le also won gold medals in three categories for his lamb and rosemary pie, apple pie and plain meat pie with his apple pie taking out overall honours.

The apple pie won the Perth Royal Show Bread and Pastry competition with his meat pie second.

Mr Le said whatever he presented at the shows was exactly what he cooked in store.

‘The perfect pie secret? High protein flour, low fat meat cooked slowly and homemade pastry from scratch,’ he said.

Overall winners of the Great Aussie Pie Competition were Gourmet category winner Bremen Patisserie while Plain Meat Pie winner was Bread Provisions and Overall Plain Meat Pie Runner Up was Denmark Bakery.
