Organiser Eileen Tristram hopes to see as many people as possible at the park.

“I want it to belong to the community. I believe if we can get the children or the schools involved, the children will have happy memories,” Ms Tristram said.

“It’s a beautiful park, all times of year, and we’re keeping it pristine.”

The group sorted propagated seeds last weekend and will have pre-prepared holes ready for families and community members to come along and pop in the new plants.

“Just wear reasonable boots and wet weather gear. We provide fertiliser and trowels, the holes are already dug; it’s just a matter of opening the hole up and putting the plant in,” Ms Tristram said.

She said interest in the park was growing, with people inquiring about the walking group and about 400 people heading out to Stars Over Bungendore astronomy evening last year.

All are welcome to attend the Tree Day event on Sunday.

The group will meet at Christmas Tree car park in Bungendore Park, on Albany Highway in Bedfordale.
