Police charge Camillo man over serious pub assault

POLICE have charged a man over a serious assault on Friday night in Champion Lakes that led to another man being placed in an induced coma.

Jay Smith was allegedly assaulted inside a pub on Westfield Road and reportedly struck his head on a pool table as he fell.

He was taken to Royal Perth Hospital where he was placed in an induced coma.

He woke from the coma on Sunday.

Now Armadale detectives have charged a 23-year-old man from Camillo with intent to do grievous bodily harm and common assault as well as possession of drug paraphernalia.

He is due to appear in Armadale Magistrates Court tomorrow.

Investigations are continuing in relation to the assault.
