Thornlie SHS claims back-to-back WA Classical Guitar Ensemble Festival wins

THORNLIE Senior High School has celebrated back-to back victories at the WA Classical Guitar Ensemble Festival.

For the second year running, the festival’s panel of judges awarded the school the highest mark possible and a grade of Outstanding.

The school’s ensembles |director Joe Bonini said the group’s performance at the festival was excellent.

“They played really well; they probably left their best performance of those pieces for the actual performance on the day, which is all you can really hope for,” he said.

Mr Bonini paid tribute to the ensemble and said they were a talented group which deserved all of its success.

“They play really well together; the ensemble is really tight and there’s a high level of musicianship across the group and it makes for a very musical ensemble,” he said.

“The adjudicators said it was very musical and technically quite accomplished.”
