Opinion: Trolleys such a trial

Greg Wilton, BeckenhamComment News

I TOTALLY agree with Gordon Martin and his frustration with dumped or left trolleys. (Comment News, November 22).

I have contacted both the Gosnells and Canning councils (I live on the edge of both jurisdictions) with the same issue.

I was informed by Canning Council to contact both Coles and Woolworths.

They gave me their respective pages to report on line.

Nothing has happened.

Maybe the council can start implementing the fines to make the shopping centres and their contractors respond.

Some places have a coin lock on the trolleys. The coin is refunded once the trolleys are pushed back into another trolley and the chain key reinstated.

Waterford Plaza have gone one step further and the trolley’s wheels lock when they leave the shopping area.

I have seen the contractors in Belmont driving through the streets collecting their discarded trolleys.

Maybe the centres need to lock up all trolleys after the shops close?
