A YOUTHFUL Gosnells Cricket Club has targeted a return to the WACA Premier League’s Twenty20 Grand Final.
Gosnells, who began its Premier League season with a 44-run loss to Mt Lawley last week, has signalled an intent to build on last season’s efforts, starting with another strong showing in the T20 competition.
Coach Danny Neretlis said he had high hopes for the season and believed a tough opening schedule would prepare his young team for the rest of the season.
“Gosnells will boast one of the youngest groups in the WACA Premier League and I have high hopes of us being very competitive in all forms this season and would certainly like to start with rectifying the result of last years T20 Grand Final,” he said.
“We have a tough start to the season with five of last year’s final six participants which will give us a good indication to where we are at regardless.”
The club has lost star player Luis Reece, who signed a Twenty20 contract in Bangladesh following a breakout showing for Derby in the English county season, but have offset his loss with the acquisition of all-rounder Ben Green (Somerset), while captain Matthew Leipold will again lead from the front.
