THE Torana A9X race car that took Bob Morris to victory in the 1979 Australian Touring Car Championship, goes on auction on May 28.
The car has been a major attraction at the York Motor Museum for decades and owner Peter Briggs said it was time to sell.
“I’ve owned the car for almost 40 years and it is time to pass it on to another enthusiastic owner,” the City Beach motorsport personality said.
“With the demise of Holden manufacturing, it is clear that Australian car collectors are keen to snap up the great cars from our motoring history and this is certainly just such a car.”
The iconic race car, in its mainly green-and-white Channel 7 livery, goes under the hammer at the Mossgreen Auction in Sydney and is expected to fetch about $1 million.
