JAGUAR is boosting its number of F-Type variants to eight, with the arrival of a four-cylinder model towards the end of the year.
Four-cylinder? Yes, and it’s a cracker: Jag’s own Ingenium turbocharged 2.0litre that whacks out 221kWand 400Nm and has the goods to take the shapely cat to 100km/h in 5.7 seconds, yet drinks premium at the rate of only 7.2litres/100km.
It’s good for 250km/h at the top end.
Priced from $107,300 plus on-roads, the new coupe is about $12,000 less than the V6 variant and a whopping $183,000 less than the top-ranging 5.0litre SVR V8 coupe.
Transmission is by a ZF ‘quickshift’ eight-speed automatic driving the rear wheels.
The car will run on 18-inch wheels and it will be a little different from other F-Types at the rear: it will have just one chrome-tipped tailpipe, so as not to be confused with the twin-pipes of the V7 and the quad orchestra of the V8.
