TURNS out the almost-$50,000 spend on craning in a pool wasn’t worth it for The Block’s Ronnie & Georgia after all.

The Perth couple plummeted to a fourth-place finish out of the five duos in the competition, scoring 25.5 points out of 30.

“That is so funny that score is ‘low’,” Georgia said, laughing it off.

“I think design is really subjective; we do respect the judges’ opinions but it is what it is.

“When you see the garden in context to the rest of the house, it makes a lot of sense – it matches the sophisticated stylish inside and the house what we were imagining was that once you open up the doors, you get that indoor/out door living where you’re eating inside and watching the kids playing in the pool outside.”

Ronnie and Georgia’s backyard space was criticised for its lack of an alfresco dining space, a blade wall with a fireplace for being non-child-friendly, and for its closed-in feeling, among other things.

They placed fourth behind winners Josh & Elyse, who were half a point shy of a perfect score, runners-up Sticks & Wombat and third-place rivals Jason & Sarah.

“Josh & Elyse has Dave Franklin do the landscaping and winning just happens when Dave does it,” Georgia said.

“He’s been affiliated with The Block for many years and it was a very smart move from them for booking him in early on in the piece.

“We were not surprised not to win because everyone on The Block – all the other teams – knew that Josh & Elyse were going to win landscape week.”
