THIRTY promising art students from Cyril Jackson Senior Campus have brought their pieces from a popular exhibition held at the State Theatre Centre of WA back to the campus’ ArtsHouse for Bassendean residents to view.
Students studying visual arts, sculpture, graphic design, media and event management took part in artistic director Raewyn Hill’s dance stage THE ZONE, which was produced by dance company Co3, from September 6 to 13.
Their works will be displayed at the ArtsHouse until the end of October.

READ NOWCyril Jackson visual art teacher Marie Molloy was blown away by the quality of the works and the students’ rich conceptual thinking.
“Exhibiting in such a high profile space alongside a high profile company had many students wondering if they had what it would take,” she said.
“A few weeks ago Co3 marketing officer Aimee Hughes came to visit us to interview the students and we prepared the classroom and studios for her visit.
“There was an extra buzz in the classroom before and after Aimee’s visit; having their work featured in THE ZONE exhibition means a wider listening audience for them as artists and I think it is pretty special as an artist to feel heard.”
Ms Molloy said the project marked the start of a two-year partnership for the campus and Co3.
She said ArtHouse artist in residence Peggy McKenna and other artists including Andy Quilty, Clair Busby and Lucy Bromell contributed to the project.
The students’ artwork will be exhibited at the ArtsHouse for an opening night held on September 22 and an Town of Bassendean Art Tour stop on September 24.
