Debt-propelled airport link

Gerry Coleman, BassendeanEastern Reporter

I FIND it somewhat bizarre that our State Government is preparing to sell off Western Power to pay off some of our debt, yet it has just commenced work on the Forrestfield-Airport Link, which will cost $2 billion.

Groundwork started in Newton Street, Bayswater for the construction of pylons that will support the tunnel entrance near the new Bayswater Junction.

Tunnel-boring will start on the 8km tunnel early next year and it is scheduled to finish in 2020.

Where is this $2 billion coming from?
