2017 Master Builders Housing Excellence Awards: Spadaccini Homes scoops the pool

THE trophy cabinet at Spadaccini Homes must be getting crowded, with a clean sweep at the recent 2017 Master Builders Housing Excellence Awards.

The Osborne Park-based builder took home the prestigious Top WA Home award, an achievement recognising the quality of workmanship that has gone into every aspect of a building’s construction.

“It was amazing,” Spadaccini Homes director Rob Spadaccini said.

“We’re very humbled by the experience and honoured to have won so many awards on the evening amongst so many prestigious builders.”

The winning Watermans Bay residence employs luxury materials and finishes including marble floors, a freestanding staircase, a glass lift, facial recognition technology, heated flooring and detailed cabinetwork.

Outside, the property features custom-made copper gutters, cedar-lined eaves and imported shingle roof tiles for a seamless finish.

“Rob Spadaccini and his team should be very proud of their success,” Master Builders executive director Michael McLean said.

“Spadaccini Homes clearly has an excellent blend of specialist trades to be able to perform at such a high level of workmanship.”

The home took out the best contract home – $2 million to $3 million category and beat entries from Brian Burke Homes and Geraldton-based Mandosio Homes, which was recognised with the Country Home of the Year prize.

Master Builders chief judge Robert Shaw said the residence was a standout and all judges were extremely impressed with the level of detail and exquisite craftsmanship delivered throughout the project.

“This exceptional home shows an uncompromising understanding of what is needed in a building company to deliver an award-winning project, which required suppliers, subcontractors and the whole team at Spadaccini Homes to be on board,” he said.

Spadaccini Homes also nabbed awards for best contract home in two other price categories, excellence in ceilings, excellence in carpentry, excellence in plastering internal/external, excellence in floor and wall tiling, excellence in cabinet making and was named Small Builder of the Year.

“All the trades work so hard at Spadaccini to development a great rapport with the clients and myself and they’ve just done an amazing job,” Mr Spadaccini said.

“We’ve been finalists so long (in the trade categories) and we’ve finally taken them out.

“This is one of our best nights at the Master Builders level; we took out 10 awards and most of them in major categories, and we had two homes that were finalists for WA home of the year.”

The exceptional four-bedroom, five-bathroom will now go on to represent WA at Master Builders’ National Housing and Construction Awards in Hobart in November to contend for the title of best home in Australia.

Other big winners on the night included West Coast Residential, who was named best new builder, Atrium Homes for best display home for The Resort in Applecross, Exclusive Residence for best alteration and addition for their display project on Paramatta Road in Doubleview, Summit Homes Group for project builder of the year, and Summit Granny Flats for best ancillary dwelling and best modular home.

Customer service prizes were distributed to Sovereign Building Company, Genesis Homes Master Builder, Summit Homes Group and Midland Brick in the small builder, medium builder, project/volume builder and supplier categories respectively.

Genesis was also crowned with the most liveable home gong, Arklen Developments was acknowledged for its innovative construction on small lots, Consortium Builders was rewarded for excellence in energy efficiency, and Right Homes and Savvy Construction were handed waterwise awards for their efforts.

The awards were presented at the gala dinner on February 25 at Crown Perth in front of a record crowd of more than 750 industry guests.
