BEDFORD Bowling Club’s ladies pennants team clinched its second flag in three years in the Friday night competition last week.

The eight-member team sealed the flag after topping the white division before defeating Willetton and Bayswater’s first team in the semi and grand finals.

Bedford’s win followed a runner-up finish last season and winning its first flag in 2014-15, the team’s first year in the competition.

Manager and player Karen Turpin said the team would continue their celebrations this month.

“We are going out for dinner on March 31,” she said.

“Hopefully we will be successful again next season as well.”

Turpin said the players had plenty of experience in playing together.

“There are probably half of us that are full time workers, so we do not get a lot of chance to practice and go into do competitions,” she said.

“From that aspect, even if you are a full time worker or you are out in the workforce, there is still the ability for you to achieve something in a sport.

“The camaraderie in the team is fantastic – very supportive of everybody and even if you lose there is always next week.”

Turpin said the next season will start in November but the club were looking for new players.
