BAYSWATER City Soccer Club coach Chris Coyne says his players are determined to continue their premiership assault against ECU Joondalup on July 29.

After winning their last five matches, City sit third on the National Premier League WA (NPL WA) ladder on 41 points, just one point from top-placed Inglewood United, while ECU Joondalup are seventh.

Coyne said the players were looking forward to another big game this week.

“We had a light session Tuesday to let the players recover after the game Sunday and Thursday; the boys trained really well,” he said.

“There are no injury concerns and we get Devon Gibson back this week as well as David Stokoe, so competition for places is hotting up.”

Coyne said his players were ready to contest for the premiership after winning its catch up game against Subiaco 3-1 on Sunday.

“The team spirit is fantastic and the boys have recognised how close they are to achieving something so are very determined to try and get the results required,” he said.

“The boys were very good last week and apart from conceding the late goal we have only conceded two in the last five games which is the response I wanted.”

Coyne said it would be a tough game against ECU Joondalup.

“ECU are very good going forward and we need to be mindful of that, but I believe if we can get at their back four we are in with a chance,” he said.
