Shane and Chris Artemis must first negotiate the traditional Australian pork division at this year’s Perth Royal Show on October 3. They will know by October 9 whether to book flights to Geelong.
Shane said the team at Lakes Designer Meats used to sell between 5 and 10kg of their meat treat each week, but after success at a local competition, sales had doubled.
‘We’ve been working on it for the last two years so we’ve finally got it nailed,’ he said.
‘A lot of hard work has gone into refining aspects, but sourcing the best ingredients we could helped a lot.’
During competition, sausages are judged on their look, texture and taste. But the competition doesn’t scare the local business owner, who said it was something he had worked for ever since he could remember.
