First Steps Early Learning in Fremantle won the Best Australian Confident Kids Activity while Smileys Childcare Centre in White Gum Valley was awarded the Best Activity During Australian Child Care Week.

Smileys Childcare Centre co-ordinator Emma Angus said both centres were extremely excited and proud to be acknowledged.

‘It was lovely to receive such high recognition and a true testament to the teamwork, creativity, commitment and hard work of all of our educators, children, families and community organisations who got involved throughout Child Care Week and helped made the week the fun experience that it was,’ she said.

‘The activities allowed us to engage with our parents and community members in a new, different way, creating new relationships, discovering accessible and useful resources, whilst benefiting the children and their learning.

‘Awards like this are important in raising the profile of childcare, the hard work our fabulous educators do and the high-quality care and learning we provide within our community.’
