THE glitz and glamour of the Fremantle Ball will return next month to celebrate the contribution of six organisations working to improve Aboriginal health and wellbeing south of the river.
Now in its fifth year, the Fremantle Foundation event is the night where contributors to this year’s Impact100 fundraiser are thanked and one of the six organisations is named the winner of the resulting $100,000 grant.
After getting the crowd on their feet at last year’s event motown duo The Merindas will return, while the Moorditj Mob will open the night with some captivating dancing.

READ NOWFremantle Foundation operations manager Hannah Fitch-Rabbitt said this year’s issue had been an important one for them to focus on.
“The Impact100 Fremantle theme, Aboriginal health and wellbeing, was chosen to honour the 50th anniversary of the 1967 referendum, the 25th anniversary of the Mabo decision and recognise that there is still a need to close the gap and achieve health equality for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people,” she said.
“We currently have a shortlist of six incredibly strong and varied organisations, each with worthwhile projects.
“The Fremantle Ball is a uniquely Fremantle celebration of community spirit and there is something in the evening for everyone – dancing, competitive bidding in the silent auction, delicious food and drinks, and of course philanthropy.”
The Fremantle Ball is on August 11 from 6pm at the Esplanade Hotel. Tickets are available from www.fremantlefoundation.com/freoball.
