Nationals leader and regional development minister Warren Truss said last month that the Coalition would only be honouring Labor’s Regional Development Australia Fund commitments that had been signed and sealed. Other promises would be assessed on a case-by-case basis.
The new government followed through on that promise, with Cockburn Council now required to resubmit for the funding.
If the City is unsuccessful, that would leave it to find a further $10 million on top of its current commitment of $65 million for a $115 million project.
