Amna Khan, South LakeFremantle Gazette

The recognition of mothers should not be on specific days like Mother’s Day. Instead, it should be all year long. Due to the responsibilities of mothers, the status of mothers is high in Islam.

On an occasion Prophet Muhammad said “Paradise lies under the feet of Mothers”.

While on one hand it says that by serving one’s mother, one can earn Paradise but also that a mother is in control of her child so much so that she can make or break the child’s life.

It is mother who developes strength in her child so that the child remains strong during the ups and downs of life and does not lose hope.

While Mother’s Day can serve as reminder for those who have forgotten their mother in busy and fast life, it should not be the only day to appreciate one’s mother.
