Australia Day 2017: City of Perth has packed programme of festivities planned

THIS Australia Day, the City of Perth has a jam-packed programme of entertainment planned.

From 3pm until 7.45pm, in Langley Park, there will be a water playground, carnival rides, petting zoo, and international food market and Rotary sausage sizzle.

There will also be a huge air show between 3.30pm and 7.50pm, while from 4.30pm there will also be a massive water regatta. Fireworks begin at 8pm.

Between 3pm and 7.30pm in Supreme Court Gardens there will be a Birak indigenous concert.

The concert is a celebration of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander cultures and communities, experienced through music, dance, art and food.

This year’s Birak Concert features local talent including Stirling Rangers, Little Tear Drops, Hot Likwid, Doreen Pensio and Band, Phil Walleystack and Delly and Boyd Stokes (Yabu Band).

The event will also include Aboriginal dance workshops presented by the Wadumbah Dance Group and interactive information sessions featuring native Australian animals such as snakes, lizards and a dingo.
