A HAZE alert has been issued for Perth after winds blew prescribed burns across the city.

The alert was issued by the Department of Parks and Wildlife for an area from the Perth Hills, through the CBD, to Mandurah.

“The smoke is from prescribed burns carried out today to manage bushfire risk, nature conservation and for forest management,” the alert said.

The smoke is expected to clear overnight.

Residents have been advised to shut windows and doors if the smoke is particularly thick, and motorists should take care in areas where the smoke has caused decreased visibility.

“People with asthma and pre-existing respiratory or cardiovascular illnesses should follow their pre-prepared treatment plan.

“People with conditions exacerbated by smoke should take precautions in line with their medical advice for these circumstances.”
