Northbridge: homicide squad investigating after human remains found at WA Museum site

UPDATE: WA Police announced on Monday July 17 that the remains found were historical and the matter was no longer under investigation.

HOMICIDE Squad detectives are investigating after the bones found at the site of the new WA Musuem on Wednesday were confirmed to be human.

Work ceased at the site, on James Street in Northbridge, yesterday afternoon after the discovery of the remains.

Police officers have assessed the scene and removed the remains to carry out forensic testing.

Police are now looking into how the remains came to be at the site.
