Swarm of bees closes down part of a CBD street

Staff WriterEastern Reporter

A SWARM of bees descended on central Perth today, with several shops having to close their doors as the problem was contained.

The swarm landed near the corner of Murray and William Streets.

Andrew, from the G-Star Raw store in Wesley Quarter, said the swarm descended on a neighbouring shop at 12.30pm and beekeepers were called to remove the bees about 3pm.

“He took them all away, and about 3.40pm all the bees that didn’t get taken away ended up dying,” Andrew said.

“We were allowed to officially open our doors about 4.15pm.”

The City of Perth is urging anyone with an allergy to bee stings to avoid the area.
