Cricket: Mount Lawley-Inglewood have mixed fortunes

Giovanni TorreEastern Reporter

MOUNT LAWLEY-Inglewood Cricket Club had mixed fortunes on Saturday, with a thumping win in 4th Grade and a thumping loss in 2nd Grade.

The Panthers 2nd Grade XI – which is their top team – conceded 9/135 when University (PCA) batted first.

Mt Lawley-Inglewood tore through University’s top and middle order, reducing the home side to 7/51, but a sting in the tail from A.B. O’Loughlin (26), N. Buttigieg (20) and S. Allan (17) put respectability on the scoreboard.

University carried that momentum shift into the field, routing the Panthers for just 44 runs – with C. Chambers (3/3) and A. Middlemas (3/4) returning stunning bowling figures.

Mt Lawley-Inglewood’s 4th Grade XI enjoyed a better day.

Scarborough got off to a decent start but lost their last eight wickets for 26 runs to be all out for 103.

Four Panthers bowlers took two wickets each.

Humbal Shah led the chase with 27 runs at the top of the order and the Panthers chased down the target in just 16 overs, with seven wickets in hand.
