Former Perth Glory stars headline Australian Legends team to tackle Manchester United Legends

A HOST of former Perth Glory players will headline the Australian Legends squad to take on a team of Manchester United legends at Perth Oval on March 25.

The Glory’s all-time leading goalscorer Bobby Despotovski will be joined by former captains Jamie Harnwell and Jacob Burns, as well as Simon Colosimo, Ljubo Milicevic, Dean Heffernan, Jason Petkovic, Steve McGarry, Scott Miller and Con Boutsianis as Australian Legends to have worn purple.

The Australian Legends squad is completed by a raft of former A-League stars, including Archie Thompson, Nick Carle, Michael Bridges, Jon McKain and Patrick Zwaanswijk.

Manchester United will be coached by former club captain Bryan Robson and is headlined by Paul Scholes, Teddy Sheringham and Dwight Yorke.

United’s squad also includes six players from its famous 1998-99 team, which won the Treble of English Premier League, FA Cup and European Champions League, as well as Czech 1996 European Championship finalist Karel Poborsky and Louis Saha, who was part of the France squad to make the 2006 World Cup final.

The match will also raise money for the Perth-based DT38 Foundation, set up in memory of the late Perth and West Ham United footballer Dylan Tombides, and the Manchester United Foundation.
