Julian WrightEastern Reporter

WEST Coast Fever’s 50-45 victory against the NSW Swifts on Friday has boosted the team’s confidence for the rest of the season, according to midcourter Ingrid Colyer.

She said the side’s first win of the Suncorp Super Netball era showed players what they were capable of.

Colyer delivered a season best performance, ending the match with 19 centre pass receives and nine feeds.

“It’s just great confidence to go forward and now we’ve seen that we are capable of it and it’s just about producing it week after week,” she said.

“I think the way that we were able to keep possession when they put pressure on, we used the resets and we didn’t put the pressure on ourselves when it wasn’t there.”

Colyer said despite rejoicing in the victory, the side needed to stay determined to carry it out week after week.

“Certainly it’s a starting point,” she said.

“It’s the first win for the season so something that we will embrace for the weekend, but we’ll be resetting and looking forward to our next game,’ she said.

Fever is now preparing to host the Sunshine Coast Lightning and Adelaide Thunderbirds in consecutive home games across the next fortnight.
