The recent hospitality awards have judged overall appearance of dishes, customer service, food presentation and taste, the coffee and the ambience in the shop, cleanliness and customer satisfaction.

The award was for Best Coffee Shop/Tea House in WA in the Savour Australia Restaurant and Catering Awards for Excellence.

“We were so surprised with our win, as we were simply delighted to be there as a finalist,” owner Shaun Kane said.

“It was a wonderful surprise and a fantastic reward to our valued staff, who have helped to make our store what it is today,” co-owner and Shaun’s sister, Debbie Hawley said.

The Coffee Club Kalamunda employs 15 to 20 staff members and the hours for staff vary from five to eight hours a day per shift.

Mrs Hawley said the win was a complete surprise.

“We chose to enter the competition as a member of the Restaurant and Catering Association as it was exposure and advertising for our store as a participant,” she said.

Mrs Hawley said the most popular dish at the café is the bacon, egg and tomato and toasted avocado and feta smash range.
