TOODYAY charities will benefit from a picnic race day organised by Toodyay Race Club and supported by Community TAB.

The annual fundraiser on Saturday, September 23 is held to boost the coffers of the local bushfire brigade, state emergency services, cricket and karate clubs.

Community TAB partners with every race club in WA to match dollar for dollar funds raised at major race days, up to $5000.

The charity program, started in 2015, has raised more than $360,000 for not-for-profit organisations across WA through partnerships with race clubs.

In addition to the September event, Toodyay Race Club raises funds for local groups throughout the year and Community TAB doubles the amount.

Club secretary Geoff Appleby said the picnic race day had run for 21 years in Toodyay and was the only event of its kind in the country town.
