CWA calls for ‘bits and bobs’ to make fidget blankets, the latest craze for nursing home residents

THE Country Women’s Association (CWA) in Mundaring is calling for bits and bobs to make fidget blankets, which have become popular among nursing home residents and hospital patients with anxiety or dementia.

CWA community co-ordinator Anne-Marie Guest said the association started making the fidget blankets with sewn in fiddle items six years ago.

“Not only do they keep older hands warm but their buttons, ribbons, beads and other quirky adornments keep their owners occupied, stop them from picking and scratching at their skin and can help them trigger their memories,” she said.
