Fire tears through timber house in Boya

Lynn GriersonHills Avon Valley Gazette

FIRE destroyed a $400,000 timber house in Boya early this morning, with strong winds spreading smoke throughout the area.

The Department of Fire and Emergency Services said the fire was under control and asked motorists to reduce speed and where possible avoid the south-eastern part of Boya.

People in an area bounded by Marriott Road, Coulston Road, Approach Road and Clayton Road may be impacted by smoke from the fire near Boya Crescent.

A DFES spokeswoman said a single occupant inside the rented, two-storey house escaped injury.
