THERE will be plenty of horsing around when the Great Hobby Horse Race kicks off in Mundaring this month.

Mundaring Arts Centre is hosting the fun event as part of the Habits of Horses open day at Mundaring Sculpture Park on August 20, which kicks off three weeks of equine-focused activities.

Shire of Mundaring councillor Lynn Fisher said Mundaring Men’s Shed members had been busy preparing for the event.

“Working in collaboration with artist Sarah Zel Chescoe, this talented group has also created two unique horse hitching posts for Mundaring, in addition to the 75 hobby horses for the Great Hobby Horse Race,” she said.

“There are hobby horses to cater for both children and adults so it should make for an exciting event.”

The shed will open to public on the day from 10am to 4pm and there will be art activities at the park, with the race heats starting at 2pm.
