FORMER Sorrento resident Anita Barnes is about to make her Hollywood debut after her web series was selected to screen at an international film festival.

Now based in Melbourne, Barnes is a lead actress in a drama series that uses hints of dark humour and mystery to tell the story of Boondock Alley: A Doctor’s Surgery for the Undead.

Along with fellow lead actors Leon Grey and Catriona Coe, the Australian trio produced the series in Bassendean with the help of director James Pentecost and writer Richard Hyde.

Barnes said the series would be screened at the 2017 Hollyweb Festival in Central Hollywood, which opens today and runs until April 2.

“Perth has a fantastic and supportive culture towards the arts,” she said.

“We’re really proud to have local content receiving international attention.

“All cast and crew were really passionate about their respective roles and I think it comes through on camera.

“A lot of people came up to us during the shoot and said it was one of the most fun shoots they’ve been on.

“To me, if people are having a good time and excited about what they’re doing on set, you’re going to get a great result.”

Boondock Alley will also screen through the 2017 International Online Web Fest and was a semi-finalist for the 2017 Hollywood International Moving Pictures Film Festival last month. The first two episodes will be released free to the public in the coming months.
