Hillarys: Norfolk pine trees saved

Tyler BrownJoondalup Times

TWO Norfolk Pine Trees that needed to be removed for roadworks in Hillarys have been saved.

The City of Joondalup recently started an upgrade of Whitfords Avenue from Flinders Avenue to John Wilkie Tarn, including the installation of roundabouts at both intersections.

This was required to align the pavement but meant two mature Norfolk Pine trees needed to be removed.

Contractor JAXON contacted the Department of Local Government, Sport and Cultural Industries to relocate the trees to nearby Ern Halliday Camp to provide shade.

They also recycled pavement that was removed from Whitfords Avenue and will supply the material to the recreation camp to construct a temporary road surface for their new building development.
