Joondalup: Synthesis Film Festival is back

SECONDARY students in the City of Joondalup can showcase their cinematography skills, with the second annual Synthesis Film Festival to be held next month.

Run by St Stephen’s School Duncraig, the short film festival has grown since its inception last year, with a prize pool of almost $1500 in vouchers.

Head of Arts David Elsing said the school was excited to run the festival again.

“We received some outstanding submissions from local secondary students last year and with the increase in the prize pool this year, we expect to see an increase in the number and quality of films submitted,” he said.

Entries close on August 1, with awards and screenings at St Stephen’s School Duncraig on August 22.

ECU film experts will judge entries, with first place being a $1000 Leederville Camera House voucher.
