A ROBBER attacked a victim with pepper spray as he walked through North Metropolitan TAFE late in the afternoon last Saturday.

Police said the perpetrator accosted the male as he was walking on the boardwalk near Grand Boulevard between 4pm and 4.20pm on April 15.

A police spokesman said the offender asked for a cigarette and $2, but was declined.

“After receiving nothing, the male became involved in a short struggle with the victim and produced what is believed to have been a can of pepper spray,” he said.

“The victim was sprayed with the substance before the male stole his mobile phone and headphones.”

The offender was described as dark skinned, about 170cm tall and aged between 30 and 40.

He had a scruffy beard and average build, while wearing black T-shirt with white stripes and grey pants.
