Kallaroo: 78-year-old crosswalk attendant seriously injured after being hit by car

A 78-year-old female crosswalk attendant suffered serious injuries after she was struck by a vehicle in Kallaroo yesterday.

The crash occurred on Dampier Avenue about 3.40pm on Thursday, when a blue Toyota Corolla sedan lost control near the intersection of Alicia Street, hitting the attendant and colliding with several poles.

The woman sustained serious injuries and was conveyed to RPH where she is in a stable condition.

The 21-year-old male driver sustained minor injuries.

Police are investigating the circumstances leading up the incident.

Their inquiries will determine whether alcohol and speed were factors in the crash.
