TWO northern suburbs teenagers are embarking on a trip to Bali for their chance to be named Australian Supermodel of the Year.

Burns Beach resident Jasmine Basioli and Wanneroo’s Alicia Tavani are among 15 finalists from around Australia competing in the event on February 3.

The 15-year-olds will fly to Bali for the grand final, hoping to win an all-expenses paid trip to Sydney for modelling agency appointments, as well as cash prizes.

Jasmine started modelling last January and has since competed in two beauty pageants and had her photo published in magazines.

“I enjoy being in front of the camera because it makes me feel strong and independent,” she said.

“It’s also given me a lot of confidence in being who I am and public speaking.

“I’m hoping that after this competition I will get exposure and the opportunity to work with new people and for brands.

“I would love to make a career in the modelling industry.”

Alicia has appeared in TV commercials and competed in pageants since starting in the industry at age 12.

She said one of the perks was being around positive people.

“Everyone is amazing, you learn how to look after yourself; you gain so much self-confidence,” she said.

She said travelling to Bali was going to be an amazing experience.

“I’m really looking forward to meeting all-new contacts in the modelling industry, plus the amazing girls I’ll be spending my time with,” she said.

“I really hope to bring the title home as Australia’s Supermodel of the Year.”
