IT was a perfect day for football on Saturday but the only Kalamunda Cougars team that shone was the E1s.
They travelled to Percy Doyle Reserve to take on Hamersley Carine, and the 9.8 (62) to 8.6 (54) win kept them in third position on the ladder.
With only five games remaining they look like they will be finals bound.

At Ray Owen Reserve what should have been a great day for the club turned out to be the total opposite.
The colts tried hard all game but could not match Whitfords going down 4.6 (30) to 7.15 (57); Brett Quinn was best on ground.
After a win last week the A Reserves came into their game with a bit of confidence but with a fair few changes mid-week were outclassed, going down 5.5 (23) to 14.9 (93).
Young colt in Braydon Becker played a great game and took out the best on ground award.
Facing the bottom placed Whitfords the A grade Cougars minds were not on the task at hand and, disappointingly, lost 7.7 (49) to 15.9 (99). Hopefully all teams can improve from the weekend with a win next week.
The A grade teams take on Wembley at Ray Owen and the E1s travel to Bassendean Oval.
