A NEW book celebrating the diversity of the local community was officially launched at the Kwinana Library last week.

My Home, My Place features artwork by students from Orelia Primary School.

“The core message of the book is that Kwinana is home to all of us and sharing our culture together makes us stronger as a community,” Mayor Carol Adams said.

The artwork was facilitated by art teacher Beverley Keays with assistance from Marina Pesticcio and Michelle Davis.

Families of the students were invited to participate by providing information about their culture, such as food, music, dance, stories and their language.

The students made paintings, drawings, musical shakers and other artworks that were photographed and featured in the book.

Copies of the book will be given to the students.
