WA is set to get its first Starbucks after state planners unanimously approved a $4 million development in Clarkson, along with a 7-Eleven service station.
A Metro Outer Development Assessment Panel on Thursday morning unanimously approved the development at the corner of Neerabup Road and Key Largo Drive with minimal amendments or discussion, praising the level of detail in the application.
City of Wanneroo Councillor Sonet Coetzee said she was “happy with the report and I think it’s very thorough”.

READ NOWThe development was approved with 17 conditions, with one removed at the DAP meeting which restricted delivery trucks to the site to only occur between 7am and 7pm.
Planning Solutions, on behalf of owners Blackmont Property, said the delivery restriction would impact fresh food and milk deliveries in the early morning hours and was unnecessary due to the sites separation by Neerabup road to residential areas.
The condition was removed and the development was approved for the Clarkson location located next to Revo Fitness gym and across from a Woolworths supermarket, both of which opened last year.
Cr Natalie Herridge also said she was looking forward to seeing the development going in.
The Starbucks will include a 220sqm building with seating for up to 74 patrons and includes a drive-through. Both the 7-Eleven and coffee operator are approved to run 24-7.
The application was advertised via the City of Wanneroo’s website in December and received 37 responses, with 23 against and 12 in support.
Whilst many comments supported having Perth’s first Starbucks in the area, there were concerns about increased traffic in the area and the already existing four petrol stations in the nearby vicinity.
The development will also include an entry and exit point on to Key Largo Drive.
Conditions of approval also include noise and light considerations for nearby residents.
“The proposal has demonstrated an acceptable level of operation that would not impact on the surrounding road network or result in any amenity impacts to surrounding landowners,” the JDAP report said.
The development was lodged by Planning Solutions for Blackmont Property, which is behind the development. The Subiaco-based company was responsible for the construction of a 7-Eleven site nearby in Butler.
